Today was another day of getting lost and finding my way. Began with a walk along the Regent's Canal to enjoy the Angel Canal Festival. It was a nice day for it--sunny and warm. I wound up in the Hackney district, north of my flat. Passed a few football pitches and an active sand volleyball court (don't tell Paul!). Jessica rang in and joined me on part of the walk from Daytona Beach. Eventually, I found a tube station (Old Street) and made my way to Oxford Circus. I must not have visited Oxford Circus my first time here because I was completely astonished by this area. The buildings are incredibly historic, but the storefronts are all modern flagship stores. (The Apple store is huge!!) Remind me sometime that not knowing your way off the circle (circus) is bad, because you will keep going in a biiiiiiiiiig circle. After discreetly checking my map 20 times, I made my way to Leicester Square, Soho (London's Castro/Dupont/etc.), and Chinatown. I didn't have much time to explore today, but will go back many times during my stay. I ended the day with a venture on the London Eye, joined by Chuck and Terri. I was half-afraid this would be a cheesy tourist trap, but the entire experience was awesome. The South Bank was filled with street performers, book markets, and so forth; the Eye itself is just phenomenal. Eventually I will upload pictures, and I recommend the ride for anyone who visits. I will definitely head back for a night-time ride.
